Vision and Values
Our school vision is to ensure that everyone has the 'roots to grow and wings to fly'.
It is inspired by Psalm 1 and Isaiah 40:30-31:
Psalm 1
‘They are like trees that grow beside a stream, that bear fruit at the right time, and whose leaves do not dry up. They succeed in everything they do.’
Isaiah 40:30-31
‘Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall; but those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.’
Roots and wings. We need them both. The roots of our community that nurture and help us grow to be the best possible versions of ourselves. The wings of faith that allow us to soar freely into the future.
Our school values, based on Christian teaching, are: Respect, Responsibility, Perseverance, Trust, Teamwork and Creativity. Through these values we strive to develop character and inspire everyone to achieve in a happy, fun and safe environment. This journey is summarised in our school motto: 'Learn, Create, Laugh, Grow'.
Respect: Our school golden rule - 'Do to others as you would have them do to you' (Matthew 7.12) helps us all to value others, places and opinions that may be different to our own.
Responsibility: “Whatever your hand finds to do, do it with your might” (Eccles 9:10) Our pupils are given a range of responsibilities to help them grow and become more independent. For example representing the school in sporting festivals, taking a lead as part of the school or eco-council or being buddies with children from a younger class.
Perseverance: 'I can do all things through Him who strengthens me' (Philippians 4.13) reminds us to do the right thing and keep going when we face the challenges in our lives.
Trust: 'My God is my strength in whom I trust' (Psalm 18.2) helps us to learn about being trustworthy and being there for our friends when they need us.
Teamwork: 'Serve one another in love' (Galatians 5.13). Closely related to service, teamwork teaches us how to be there for others, giving without expecting something in return and living for others.
Creativity: 'In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth' (Genesis 1.1). All life is a 'gift' and we have a creative spirit within each of us to help us learn to value and explore, celebrate and enjoy our world, with all its mystery and diversity.
Our vision and values are at the core of everything we do. We support, encourage and nurture everyone to aspire to be the best possible versions of themselves so that they realise their full potential; both in their learning and in their relationships.
