Forest School
Our wonderful Forest School afternoon (June 2020)
You might think social distancing is difficult at school. At Crudwell Church of England Primary School, we feel so lucky to have a huge field that enables us to enjoy Forest School on site whilst remaining safe. This week we began by collecting firewood and built our own fire to cook dampers – delicious hot bread enjoyed with lashings of strawberry jam! Crispy on the outside and warm and soft on the inside! We learnt to whittle our own cooking stick and designed tools to help with the cooking process. Once we were full, we went on a bug hunt and found a whole host of wildlife living all around us.
“It’s super fun and you get to cook food on the fire at Forest School but I also enjoy growing fruit and vegetables in our allotment.” Tilly (aged 9)
“I love cooking the divine dampers with the oozing jam. We are growing strawberries at school so maybe we will be able to make our own jam.” Evie (aged 9)
“I like Forest School because I get to hang out with my friends and it is a place to be free.” Leah (aged 10)
“I like Forest School (even in the rain) because we get to be outside in the fresh air and have fun with friends.” Esmee (aged 8)
“I like Forest School; I also like playing on our school trim trail swinging and climbing.” Isla (aged 7)
“We love Forest School because we get to be outside in nature and hear the birds chirping.” Bulumko (aged 9) and Zane (aged 7)
