Children have swimming lessons at Westonbirt Leisure Centre as part of their PE lessons. They have an hours swimming for a whole term - about 10 sessions - usually in Years 2 and 3. During the lessons children are taught in three ability groups by qualified instructors. Children who have not achieved the KS2 swimming requirements by the end of their series of lessons will have further sessions in a later year group.
We welcome parent help in accompanying the children to and from the swimming pool and have a weekly 'volunteers' rota.
The Leisure Centre is open to members of the public during swimming sessions although we have sole access to the changing facilities and the pool. There is additional safeguarding guidance for this in the document below.

Women's World Cup Match- England v West Indies
County Kwik Cricket Finals @Trowbridge
Well this day had something for everyone! It had extremes in the weather, as well as in our play. Within our group matches there were some very tight matches, with two of these finishing with only one run between the teams! The children should be incredibly proud of the their achievements at this tournament, which demonstrated their great skills in batting, catching and bowling. All of them showed great resilience and determination throughout the games.
'Friendship Sport's' @Lea & Garsdon
The atmosphere at this event was amazing! The children representing Crudwell in Year's 3/4/5/6 did us proud, by showing great sportsmanship and support for each other both on and off the track. Fantastic performances were displayed individually, and as teams. Our collection of 1st, 2nd and 3rd places was an extra bonus to top our morning off. What a fantastic event with our fellow cluster schools. Well done Team Crudwell!
Kwik Cricket Festival @Malmesbury CC
What a day to play cricket, we've seen all the seasons rolled into one, but the rain didn't stop play! What an amazing effort from Team Crudwell. Both A and B made me immensely proud with their super team spirit, and their great cricket skills were on display.
Team B had a difficult group draw, but that didn't stop them. Through out the day they continued to show a powerful determination and resilience. Overall they finished 5th in their group, being strongly led by Mrs Baker.
Team A also found themselves in a difficult grouping. They had a couple of close matches where they had to dig deep to pull out a win. At the end of the group round the final decision as to which team would go through to the semi finals was extremely close between the top three who finished on equal points! So, they looked at extra runs scored. Which saw us through to the semi finals as the top team from our group. In the semi finals they cruised through to the finals. In the final against Malmesbury the team were phenomenal!
I lost count of the number of 6's scored! Which led us to finish 1st overall, and qualify for the County Finals at Trowbridge County Ground.
Girls Kwik Cricket Festival @Chippenham CC
What scorcher, both on and off the pitch! The girls had some close matches against some tough opposition, but that didn't stop the continually smiling and thoroughly enjoying the festival. True sportsmanship was shown. All the girls taking part were amazing, and they were a credit to Crudwell. But a special mention needs to go to our Team Manager for the day, who did an incredible job at organising everyone, myself included! Well done Katie.
Orienteering Festival @Malmesbury Secondary School
All children from Sapling's joined other cluster schools to take part in this festival. For some, this was their first ever competition outside of school. Overall we entered six teams for Year 1&2, and three for Year 3. All the children had great afternoon of constant movement and challenges trying to solve the different codes, words and sums. It was quite a challenge to complete in only an hour!
County Tag Rugby Finals @ Devizes RFC
What a fabulous day for Tag Rugby! After the first group rounds we finished top of our group, with some outstanding wins under our belt. This automatically took us straight through to play for the top 4 places. After a tough first game, the children showed great guts and determination, and worked together as a team despite the many injuries which occurred on the way through the following games. We are all extremely proud of their achievements, each and everyone put in a great performance, which allowed the team to finish as the 4th best team in the whole of Wiltshire! What an achievement.
Orienteering Festival for Year's 1, 2 & 3 @Malmesbury Secondary School
For some children this was their first time visiting Malmesbury Secondary, but that certainly didn't put them off from having a fun filled afternoon testing their brain power against 200+ pupils from other local primary schools. They all worked brilliant in their pairs, and showed great team spirit too. Thank goodness everyone was moving around so much, otherwise we would have been frozen, despite being in the month of May. Well done everyone who took part, including the parents too.
Dance Showcase @Malmesbury Secondary
High5 Netball @Devizes Mid Wilts Playoffs
Well after a tiring week consisting of 3 festivals, today proved too big a task to match our performance the day before. But, they showed true team spirit, and truly showed how they can play in their final match against Colerne School. Well done everyone on finishing 7th in Mid Wilts High5 Netball.
WE ARE WILTSHIRE COUNTY HOCKEY CHAMPIONS!!!
WOW, WOW, WOW!!! Crudwell got through a tough round of matches, before reaching the playoffs for 1st and 2nd place. Yet again we completed the tournament with out conceding a goal! The final was so close, with the only goal of the match going in from a short corner after full time had been played. Another outstanding performance from all that played, true team performance.
Yes, it's true, dreams really do come true- Crudwell are Witshire County Hockey Champions 2017!!!
Cross Country Festival for Yr3&4 , Yr5&6 @Malmesbury Secondary School
After a day of torrential rain, the sun thankfully came out just in time for the event to begin. With over 60 enthusiastic runners taking part just from Crudwell, the weather certainly didn't dampen our spirits.
Congratulations to everyone who took part in the muddy conditions, you were all amazing!
Collectively as a school we took home:
Yr3&4- Boys Individual= 1st and 2nd places, Boys Team A= 1st place, Girls Team A= 1st place
Yr5&6- Boys Individual= 1st and 2nd places, Girls Individual= 2nd and 3rd places, Boys Team A= 1st place, Girls Team A=3rd place
Wow, what fantastic results!
Small Schools Football & Netball Festival @Lea & Garsdon
What better way could you spend a Saturday morning, than playing other children in the cluster for some football and netball fun. An action packed morning of back to back matches.
Overall our football team finished a close 2nd, and our netball team were placed 4th. Thank you to everyone who took part, and those who also came along to support Crudwell at this event.
Year 3/4 Mixed Football Festival @The Red Bull Pitches
What a fantastic afternoon of mixed football. Both teams did extremely well at this competition. Not one of you never stopped smiling, despite the freezing blizzard conditions.
Mid Wilts Hockey Tournament @Devizes Secondary School
Congratulations Stripes, you qualified for the County Playoffs!!! WOW! You met some tough competition, but the goals just kept on coming from our attack. And the defence, stood strong too, with only one cheeky goal getting past them the whole afternoon. Fantastic play from the whole team, well done everyone on a fantastic result. Watch out Wiltshire, Crudwell are coming!
Quicksticks Festival @Malmesbury Secondary School
Brrrrrr! What a cold, wet afternoon we had playing Quicksticks at Malmesbury, but this didn't dampen our spirits. Wonderful team work showed by both teams at this competition, who grew as a team as the tournament progressed.
Green's finished 11th and Stripes 1st overall! Magnificent results. Well done to Stripes who have qualified for the Mid Wilts Play Offs in Devizes!
Gymnastics Festival @ Malmesbury Secondary School/ Activity Zone
Wow! What an afternoon jam packed full of gymnastics. During their time the children competed in both floor and vault competitions, as well as experiencing new equipment too, such as the beam and bars.
To top off our incredible afternoon, one of our teams finished second overall in both floor and vault, and we also collected a couple of other seconds too, for our girls individual floor and vault routines. Brilliant job everyone!
Netball Festival Yr's 5&6 @Malmesbury
We finished 2nd! An amazingly close final to watch.
Outstanding performance by everyone despite the chilly weather.
Massive thank you to Mrs Greggory for the hot chocolate and goodies to keep us all warm, and all the hard work she puts in through out the year. Two super teams to be extremely proud of.
